The spooky season might be over, but the fall season is here to stay. Now we start to prepare for our next big celebration, Thanksgiving.
Thanksgiving is always celebrated on the last Thursday of the month. This year the last Thursday will fall on November 28th.
“I am looking forward to Thanksgiving being over so we can get on to Christmas,” freshman Guilia Putt said. “Once Thanksgiving is over, I can fully enjoy the Christmas festivities,”
Many people have already started preparing for the Christmas season by making their wish lists, listening to Christmas music, and even starting to decorate. Thanksgiving is often overshadowed by Christmas, according to sophomore Sophie Flur.
“I think Christmas does overshadow Thanksgiving,” Flur said. ”I think more people like Christmas and enjoy Christmas over Thanksgiving, but I like the familiar feeling of Thanksgiving,”
Thanksgiving is a time to give thanks, spend time with family and friends, and eat food. Although Thanksgiving is a fun holiday, many people have problems with the story behind it, according to English teacher Maya Mahony.
“I have some qualms with the history of Thanksgiving,” Mahony said. “I do appreciate the time to relax and spend time with my family,”
As Thanksgiving comes closer, many look forward to the transition into the Christmas season. For many, this time of year brings a sense of joy and anticipation, as stores start to display holiday decorations and Christmas songs start to play.
“I am excited because once Thanksgiving is over they will start playing Christmas music on the radio,” Guilia said. “I can start decorating my house and preparing for Christmas since the Christmas season is my favorite season.”
