The APEC meeting, or Asian Pacific Economic Corperation Summit is set to meet from November 15th to November 17th which include notable guests such as United States President Joe Biden, and Chinese President Xi Jinping. The conference is intended as a meeting place for the 21 leaders attending to discuss trade in the Pacific.
“I think it’s really cool that this national meeting is happening in San Francisco,” said sophomore Eugenia Jackson, “It’s exciting that the president is going to be here this week,”
The summit is intended to discuss a more sustainable approach to international trade in the Pacific. The meeting is supposed to take place in Moscone Center, with gates, as well as multiple security teams to ensure the safety of the participants, according to Jackson.
“The meeting is happening pretty close to my house,” said junior, Maddy Aldecoa, “It’s so interesting that such an important world meeting is so close,”
Because of the often rigid relationship between the U.S and China following the Hamas-Israel War, and the Ukraine-Russia War, this meeting is intended to repair the relationship between the two countries in the public eye, according to Aldecoa.
“It’s interesting that this meeting is the first conversation Biden and Jinping have had in a year and its special that it is happening in San Francisco,” said Jackson, “This is the first time I’ve learned about what the meeting really was,”
