On Monday night in Los Angeles, the 78th Emmy Awards took place, bringing together some of the biggest stars in television for a thrilling night. One big winner was “Widow’s Bay”, and the film itself not only highlighted but also honored several actors who took part in the making. Big awards also went to “The Pitt”, following in the footsteps of past years’ success.
“It was so fun watching the Emmys even though I had never watched any of the TV shows that won awards,” freshman Bellamy Yarahmadi said. “It was incredible to see the actors get their moment on the big stage,”
The event was hosted by actress Mariska Hargitay, and she made history by becoming the first woman to host the Emmy Awards in 15 years.
“It was really great that it was hosted by a woman this year, and I thought she was super talented and a great host,” english teacher Kevin Russell said. “However, it is unacceptable that there hasn’t been a female host in the past 15 years, when there are so many possible qualified female hosts, and it’s unfortunate that they keep going back to male hosts who aren’t as good. It creates a double standard.”
The audience was not only focused on the awards, but also on the fashion. Fans discussed their favorite looks, compared outfits and gave their own awards to who was best dressed.
“I think the Emmys fashion this year was really interesting because there was a mix of classic, elegant looks and more bold, experimental outfits,” Junior Beatrice Yung said. “Personally, I liked the more unique looks because they showed more individuality while still looking sophisticated.”
Not only did the night include fashion and awards, the 2026 Emmys also included emotional tributes to honor television industry stars who have passed away this year. Noah Kahan performed “Bridge Over Troubled Water” during the tribute, honoring stars such as Catherine O’Hara, Rob Reiner and Dolly Parton.
By the end of the night, there was plenty for viewers to remember, and whether they were watching for the fashion, awards or celebrity appearances, the event gave everyone something to talk about.
“It was such a fun night,” Yarahmadi said. “I can’t wait to see what will happen next year!”.
