On Wednesday, November 4, community time turned into a Wellness Morning, a time to relax and reset during the start of the busy second quarter. Students chose from several different options of activities that they wanted to participate in, including coloring, painting, nature walking, yoga, and even a tea ritual!
“I’m doing pattern flow,” sophomore Bea Melot said. “I’m excited for the mystery of it all because I don’t know what it is or what to expect.”
This is an excellent opportunity for students to unwind in the middle of a stressful week. They can slow down and take care of their mental health while spending time with their friends.
“It’s a chance for students to decompress, take a moment to check in with themselves, to even just pause for a little bit,” wellness counselor Roberto Parris said. “I know how busy you guys can be with studying, sports, academics, and our minds can be busy as well. The goal of this is, in a mandatory way, causing everyone in unison to pause and take a moment to recuperate.”
Students were able to take advantage of having an hour of restful activities to take a pause in their busy lives, especially during tryouts for winter sports and a stressful academic month..
“Wellness Wednesday is one of the most fun activities we have all year,” junior Jessica Long said. “I wish we had it more often.”
Taking a break to breathe and reset, especially during the school day, is a great way for students to take care of themselves and prioritize their well-being and mental health.
“It’s a good time to reset and be more calm,” Melot said. “I have a very stressful week this week so I am looking forward to having a moment to rest.”
