WEB EXCLUSIVE | This past week, students, faculty and parents gathered at the Broadway campus to browse a wide selection of all types of literature at the fook fair.

The book fair took place in the Reception Room in the Flood Mansion on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday until 4 p.m., Wednesday until 6 p.m and on Friday until the end of drop-off. Books Inc. provided all the books for the event and offered a selection of different genres from their store including picture books, young-adult novels, non-fiction and more.

“I really wanted to look at the book selection to see all the different offerings,” sophomore Alexandra Chua said. “It’s great that the school provides such a wide selection of literature for people of all ages too.”

On Wednesday, in collaboration with the book fair, local author Jarrett J. Krosoczka visited the elementary school to talk about and share his literature.

“The book fair is an amazing event,” freshman Siena Bianchi said. “It’s a great way to make kids feel excited about learning and reading in general.”

Book fair sales were also accessible online via Books Inc.’s website. To donate a percentage of one’s purchase to the school, they must apply code “SACREDHEART” at checkout.

“The book fair has a lot of books for K-12 readers and students and it’s great that we use a local bookseller like Books Inc. instead of a major store like Amazon,” Librarian Reba Sell said. “I love the book fair because it spreads reading through the grades.”

Books Inc. hosts a variety of different types of book fairs for several schools across the Bay Area including options online, in-person or at Books Inc. locations.

“I really like Books Inc and supporting small bookstores but it’s been hard to contribute to them because of the closures caused by the pandemic,” Chua said. “It’s great that Books Inc. has been here for such a long time and that they offer book fairs for schools like these.”
