In my freshman year I visited Ronald McDonald House and got the opportunity to interview Brian Johnson, a then-17-year-old who suffers from cystic fibrosis. When I met him, he had recently undergone a bilateral heart transplant.
Listening to his story changed my outlook on life, and he taught me some life lessons that I keep with me to this day.

Even though water is free and easy to waste, it should not be taken for granted, but protected and conserved. The economy, the planet and in fact all life depends on water, and measures to save the quality of the earth’s water must move quickly before the earth’s delicate balance is beyond saving.
Aside from the fact that CSH is all-girls, I doubt you’d find students in most other high schools sleeping underneath tables in the middle of the school day before their next class; rummaging in the Center for food, determined to get anything and everything for free; watching rumors spread to literally every single person in the entire school, including the Dean of Students, in give or take 5 minutes; or buying wedding dresses at the age of 17 for — graduation.
