On Feb. 7, 2025 Crumbl opened its door to a new location at Lakeshore Plaza, 1567 Sloat Boulevard. Crumbl Cookies is a nationwide company that makes and sells cakes and cookies. They have a rotating menu that changes every week, and there are six different flavors. These flavors can depend on the month, upcoming holidays or demand. This week, the flavors are Butter Cake, French Silk Pie, Milk Chocolate Chip, Biscoff Lava Cookie, Strawberry Cupcake, Banana Caramel and Red Velvet White Chip, according to Crumbl.
“My sister Scarlett and I both love Crumbl since it’s delicious,” freshman Vanessa Stephens said. It is also special since it gives us something to bond over,”
To celebrate the opening, staff were handing out free chocolate chip cookies, according to FunCheapSF. Many people have eagerly been awaiting the opening— a new location makes it much more convenient for many SF locals who have previously had to travel to Berkeley or Foster City to go to a store, according to junior Adana Cooper.
“I think Crumbl cookies are good but overrated for their price, and they taste similar to Safeway cookies,” junior Adania Cooper said. “They have both good and bad flavors, but I recommend people make their own instead,”
Crumbl was co-founded in 2017 with Jason McGowan and Sawyer Hemsley. Once they came up with their recipes they opened their first shop in Logan, Utah. This bakery was designed to be an open kitchen so customers could watch their cookies being made in front of them. It became the fastest growing cookie company in the US, where now, Crumbl has 1,071 locations and 29,000 people are employed worldwide, according to Crumbl. However, some people agree that they are a little pricey and you can make homemade ones for less.
Crumbl Cookies are now seen at a wide variety of celebrations, like birthday parties, movie nights or holiday parties, especially after partnering with DoorDash. Students even bring them to sports games as a celebratory snack. “My sister used to drive all the way over to Nevado for cookies,” Stephens said. “Now that the new Crumbl has opened it will be much more convenient.”
