This season features several prominent teams, including the Kansas City Chiefs, the San Francisco 49ers, the Buffalo Bills, and the up and coming Detroit Lions. As the season starts, each team is given another chance at the Lombardi Trophy.
“I am excited to see the season start,” Sophomore Isabel Schmidt. “The 49ers should have a great team,”
The Kansas City Chiefs won 27-20 against the Baltimore Ravens. It came down to the Ravens’ tight end receiver, Isaiah Likey and his toe being just barely out of bounds to give the win to the Chiefs according to ESPN.com
“I hate when wins or losses are called by such close and controversial calls,” sophomore Arria Shimizu said. “But with that I think they made the right call because it was a really close technicality, but at the end of the day the rules are the rules and it wasn’t a touchdown,”
The season will witness the debut of several rookie quarterbacks like, Caleb Williams for the Chicago Bears, Anthony Richardson for the Indianapolis Colts, Bo Nix for the Denver Broncos, and Jayden Daniels for the Washington Commanders.
“I am definitely excited to see some new players out there,” junior Alisa Houts said. “I love when new players get the chance to play so I will definitely be looking out for them,”
This season’s favorites for winning this season’s Super Bowl is, once again, the Kansas City Chiefs. Patrick Mahomes and the rest of the Chiefs have won two super bowls in a row looking to be the first team to win 3 consecutive Lombardi Trophies. The other top favorites for winning this season’s Super Bowl are the San Francisco 49ers, the Philadelphia Eagles and the Baltimore Ravens according to usatoday.com.
“I am a little concerned about the holdouts of key players during training camp,” Schmidt said, “as well as how the players will hold out during the Super Bowl.”
