Simple Gifts, a philanthropic club providing aid to women and children around the city, held its fourth annual fashion show last night.
The fundraising event showcased outfits from designers including Levi’s, Rugby, and two student designers, benefiting Get on the Bus, an organization providing transportation for adults and children to visit family members in prison.
Club co-presidents Erin Minuth and Francesca Incerty presented a $4,000 check to Lucy Garcia (’69), a Get on the Bus volunteer.
“[The fashion show] is the largest fundraiser we make money-wise,” said Incerty.
“The fashion show brings in the most money — which is great,” said Incerty. “But other events all add up, too, like the Simple Gifts tea for the freshmen that we kicked the year off with, or candy grams and pay free dress days.”
The fashion show is also a way to promote awareness of the organization, according to Dean of Students Celine Curran.
Minuth and Incerty, juniors, are also planning a school dance in March, which will be the first dance organized by the club.
“I think Simple Gifts is inspiring,” said Bianka Quintanilla-Whye, freshman. “It shows how much students can do if they work hard. And, we’re donating to a great cause.”
