On Friday Jan. 10, Convent & Stuart Hall will be hosting its annual Winter Formal in the Broadway campus main hall. The theme for this year’s dance will be Winter Wonderland with the suggested formal attire of blues and whites.
“I am super excited for this year’s Winter Formal,” junior Winnie Chun said. “It’s a fun time to dress up, hang out with friends and have lots of fun,”
The main hall doors will open at 6:00 p.m. and festivities include music and dancing, as well as casino games with dealers and prizes. Fulfilling hors d’oeuvres will also be provided.
“I think it’s a great time to make new memories with my friends,” junior Adania Cooper said. “Every year, I’ve always had such a great time.”
Every year, the student council plans the Winter Formal. Student council members began planning the dance in advance, and first announced the theme two weeks before winter break, according to junior Lillian McConnathy.
“I think it’s really nice how the student council prepares for this dance,” McConnathy said. “It always has a great turnout.”
In past years, the themes have been Great Gatsby and Valentine’s Day. Similar to this year’s festivities, past years have had dancefloors, great snacks, photobooths, and casino-style tables. Winter Formal is an event that offers the opportunity for laughter, joy and memory-making as it marks the beginning of the New Year.
“I think that it’s really nice that our school hosts these social events,” Chun said. “It really contributes to making a better sense of the school community.”
