Freshman Leila Sawicki poses in dress uniform. All students grades 2-12 wore dress uniform to celebrate the Mass of the Holy Spirit.

Today, students headed over to St. Mary’s Cathedral to celebrate the Mass of the Holy Spirit. Afterwards, students performed their advisory lip-sync routines in the Pine Octavia gym.

“I like wearing dress uniform for mass because it makes the occasions feel more formal and community oriented,” said junior Thea Pratt. “I did miss wearing my spirit wear today though and hopefully we can represent our school with a lot of cheer in the games,”

After 3 days of spirited dress, students received an email yesterday announcing that there would be enforced dress code on Friday due to the inappropriate choice made throughout the week, according to freshman Leila Sawicki.

“I was a little disappointed that a few people breaking the dress code had to ruin it for everyone,” Sawicki said. “But it’s okay, they’re just doing their best to keep the school an orderly place,”

After the pep rally, students received an email announcing the winners, according to Pratt. There were 2 winners in each grade, one from Stuart Hall and one from Convent.

“The pep rally with the lip-sync battle was a fun new tradition and it was cool to see all members of our school having a good time,” Pratt said. “I hope we can carry this tradition on to next year because it was exciting to choreograph your own advisories and then see what other people came up with,”

This was the first mass of the year and students grades 2-12 were there. The student-body presidents of each division also gave speeches in accordance with the school theme, ‘explore,’ according to Sawicki.

“I really liked the mass because it’s not something I’ve previously experienced,” Sawicki said. “I thought it was organized and all of the singing made the community feel more unified.”
