About

The Broadview is a student-run publication of Convent of the Sacred Heart High School, 2222 Broadway, San Francisco, California, USA.

“Schools of the Sacred Heart commit themselves to educate to personal growth in an atmosphere of wise freedom,” (Goal 5), therefore The Broadview operates as an open forum for free speech and student expression without prior review.

Unsigned pieces are the opinion of the Editorial Board. Opinion pieces, reviews and personal columns reflect the views of the author(s) and are not necessarily those of Convent of the Sacred Heart High School or Schools of the Sacred Heart San Francisco.

The Broadview invites comments, additions or corrections on stories in its publications and media posts. Letters to the Editor should be 300 words or fewer and must include the writer’s name and a method of verifying authorship.

We may work with writers for clarity and to meet space limitations.

Submissions should be e-mailed to broadview AT sacredsf.org.

Comments on online stories are encouraged and are posted after moderation in an effort to control spam and ensure adherence to Schools of the Sacred Heart community standards. Comments will not be published if they are off-topic, include profanity or are sexually explicit; make attacks on an individuals or groups rather than focusing on their actions (ad hominem); make derogatory comments regarding gender or sex, race, religion, sexual orientation, disability, or other characteristic that can be classified as bullying, threatening or trolling; encourage illegal or immoral acts; are libelous; violate copyright or privacy protections. Posters must use their real names and provide a means of verification such as an email address (that will not be published).

Take-down requests are considered by the editorial board on a case-by-case basis. Stories in which an individual is libeled or are cast in an unfair light that may inhibit their professional or educational prospects are more likely to be taken down — or at least have names redacted — than stories in which an individual simply does not like or reflects her as a “typical teenager.” Such requests should be sent to broadview AT sacredsf.org.
