On August 26. Starbucks released its seasonal fall menu. This menu consists of new hot and cold drinks, pastries and breakfast items.
Every year, at the start of the fall season, Starbucks releases its fall-themed menu. This special menu includes everything from the cult-favorite pumpkin spiced latte to the newly added pumpkin cream cheese muffin. This past week, Starbucks launched its new fall menu, which included some of their most popular seasonal drinks as well as some new additions, according to junior Bibiana Renazco-Magelssen.
“Every fall I really enjoy looking at the new menu at Starbucks,” Renazco-Magelsson said. “I love how they always have the same flavors each year,”
Many of the drinks and pastries include flavors that are reminiscent of the fall season, such as pumpkin and chai, and may be ordered either hot or cold. The drinks are supposed to reflect the coziness of autumn as people transition away from the iced coffees often associated with the summer months.
“I think all the flavors really encapsulate what fall feels like,” sophomore Keira Minvielle said. “The cute animals also fit really well into that theme and tell you fall is coming,”
Many students at Convent and Stuart Hall choose to visit Starbucks located at 2435 California St, inside Molly Stone’s Market. This location is easily accessible and located with close proximity to both campuses.
Despite the popularity of the fall-themed drinks, some find the taste to be a bit too sweet to their liking. According to Starbucks, a medium pumpkin spiced latte contains over 50g of sugar, which is more than a 12-ounce can of Coca-Cola.
“I admit that I’m a very basic girl who loves pumpkin spice and fall,” math teacher Lindsay MacGarva said. “Though I still find the pumpkin spice latte too sweet so I only have one each year,”
The tradition of a fall menu each August started in 2003. It originally began with the launching of one of Starbucks’ fall staples, the pumpkin spice latte, in 2003.
“The seasonal Starbucks menu gets me excited for the fall season,” Renazco-Magelsson said. “Now I can’t wait for Halloween and other fall holidays.”
