Last week, Convent and Stuart Hall hosted a Grandparents’ and Special Friends’ Day celebration. This event occurred during the school day on Thursday Feb 27. and Friday Feb 28.
This event took place between 8:45 a.m. and 12:00 p.m. in the Flood Mansion. Over these two days, the school welcomed over 700 grandparents and special friends throughout Kindergarten and 12th grade, according to senior Ellie Ault Rosa.
“I love how our school celebrates grandparents day each year,” Ault Rosa said. “It’s really special to see how this day brings so many people together all at the Flood Mansion.”
During their visit, Grandparents and Special Friends had the opportunity to participate in special programs and activities hosted by faculty. The main hall of Flood Mansion was decorated and hosted a photo booth and refreshments for those participating in this event, according to junior Abigail Chacon Lara.
“Each year, I feel like this event creates so much community within our school,” Chacon Lara said. “Especially as a K-12 event, this event really brightens the atmosphere and unites many people from so many backgrounds.”
Complimentary valet services were included with this event, making this event more accessible for all to attend. In addition, grandparents and special friends had the opportunity to eat snacks and lunch on campus throughout their visit, according to junior Adania Cooper.
“It’s really rewarding how grandparents can really be immersed in the student experience and take classes with their grandchild,” Cooper said. “It’s also cool how it allows faculty to teach a new shorter class to an audience of students and their grandparents.”
This event has allowed students to create so many long lasting memories with their grandparents and special friends. This celebration allows people to have unity within all different generations and builds Convent and Stuart Hall’s diverse community, according to Ault Rosa.
“This event is a great way to celebrate our grandparents and all they do for us,” Ault Rosa said. “It’s wonderful to see the bond between students and grandparents and how it can grow stronger with fun community events like this.”
