Convent & Stuart Hall High School have access to many delicious restaurants on and near Fillmore Street. During passing periods, lunch, and after school, many students love to drop by stores for snacks and drinks.
“My favorite is La Boulangerie, and I love it so much because I have gone there since I was a kid,” sophomore Morgan Miller said. “But I also love Boichik a lot.”
A new and loved edition to Fillmore is Boichik Bagels. Many students enjoy the fresh New York-style bagels, and during lunch times, the store on 1946 Fillmore is overflowing. The menu includes a wide variety of bagels, such as everything, plain, onion, egg, and many spreads and veggie toppings.
“My favorite dessert is a French place called La Boulangerie that has an almond croissant that is to die for,” history teacher Mr. Eneveldson said. “There is also a cake spot, Yasukochi’s Sweet Stop, in Japantown that has the best coffee crunch cake.”
Starbucks is a classic stop for students on break. They offer appetizing sandwiches and refreshing drinks. On No. 7, the winter menu was released, featuring their holiday drinks like the Iced Gingerbread Oatmilk Chai and the Peppermint Mocha, according to Starbucks. On Nov. 14, the store held its annual Red Cup Day, where you get a Starbucks red cup with each drink you purchase.
“I really like Peet’s Coffee,” sophomore Leila Sawicki said. “I have been going there a lot recently on these increasingly colder days to get a warm coffee, which helps me focus.”
The two corner stores, Mayflower and Ginos, frequently supply students with sweet treats and drinks during the day. Only a few blocks away from the Broadway campus, the corner stores get much foot traffic from students crossing between the campuses. From Red Bull energy drinks to bags of potato chips, Mayflower and Ginos are always bustling with students.
“Another place I like, though I don’t go there during lunch, is Taylor’s Son,” Miller said. “I go there for brunch with my family, and I really recommend going during a free block or after school.”
