This week, Sept. 23-27, is Spirit week, where students dress in themes for the week leading up to homecoming games. The themes for this week were announced by the student government presidents last Friday In an assembly.
Today’s spirit week theme is “Teacher-Student Swap Day”, where teachers can dress like students and students are free to dress like any teacher. Tomorrow, the ‘theme’ is for students to wear their dress uniform as they will be in attendance at the Mass of the Holy Spirit.
“I feel like today’s theme is just the students having to dress in dress code because the teachers dress in dress code anyway,” sophomore Annabelle Braun said. “I get that it was meant to be a fun way for teachers and students to bond, but I think it just ended up coming across differently then it was meant to,”
If you choose not to participate in a themed dress day, the regular school dress code still applies and will still be enforced. Some memorable outfits that students inspired their dress by today were Ms. Asdorian, Ms. LeGault, and Ms. Yao according to freshman Lyra Inghelbrecht
“I think it was unclear what students were allowed to wear because the students don’t know what the teachers’ dress code is,” said Inghelbrecht. “It was fun, like in the morning it was fun to get ready with Ms. Yao in mind and her outfits,”
On Sunday, Knights Advice, the official Stuart Hall Instagram account, posted a forward look to this week’s themes. However, they explained that today’s designated spirit theme was “Western Wednesday”, instead of “Teacher-Student Swap day”, which led to some confusion from junior Maya Gee.
“I thought it was super confusing when the Instagram account posted that stuff about today’s theme,” Gee said. “I ended up just following the email, which was correct in the end, but yeah, it was definitely confusing,”
While Knights Advice said that this Friday’s theme would be “Twin day”, the theme is actually “Red-Out”, in support of the Convent Volleyball homecoming game that evening. Students also have a homecoming football game on Saturday, where the theme is “Gray/White-Out”.
“I really like Friday’s theme of Red-Out,” Braun said. “It shows school spirit because it is one of our school colors.”
