Last night, the Convent and Stuart Hall community came together for the CHS Volleyball Senior Night. Senior Courtney Hall, the Convent Cubs’ only senior on Varsity, was celebrated by her friends and teammates. They showed their appreciation for Hall’s work on the team by decorating the gym for Senior Night.
“This season, I felt immensely supported and loved by my team,” Hall said. “Being the only senior, I told my teammates that I had high expectations for them, and they did a great job,”
The celebration was not only supported by the team but by Hall’s family as well, who also came to support. Before the game, pictures were taken to commemorate the special night as well as Hall’s contributions to the team, according to freshman Sydney Meier.
“I think Courtney is truly a great leader for the team, and she does an amazing job bringing people together,” says Meier. “Next year, the team will definitely not be the same without her, and she will be missed,”
For the Senior Night celebration, there were three volleyball games. There was a Frosh/Soph game at 4:00pm, Junior Varsity at 5:15, and finally the Varsity game at 6:30, all against Lick-Wilmerding, according to sacredsf.
“Although I’m not usually a big fan of pageantry, senior night was really fun,” varsity head coach Kurtis Wong said. “It was great to see everyone come out and support Courtney, who is a great player,”
Hall played on the Burkes middle school team in her younger years, and was recruited to Junior Varsity in ninth grade at Convent. After playing on Junior Varsity for most of her freshman year, Hall was moved up to Varsity due to her remarkable hits, blocks, and digs. She continued to prove herself the next three years, being an essential middle blocker for the team, according to Wong.
“Despite the fact that we lost, it was a really great game and everyone had really good energy,” Hall said. “Additionally, my two middle school best friends and my middle school volleyball coach came out to support me, which was so great.”
