WEB EXCLUSIVE Convent & Stuart hall commemorated the San Francisco 49ers advancing to Super Bowl LIV with a themed dress day on Friday.

“The spirit day was a really great way for the community to unite through wearing the 49ers gear,” junior Naia Urruty said. “I grew up here so I have always rooted for the team.”

If students didn’t own 49ers apparel they could wear school spirit gear. In addition, the Student Council shared a Google Drive folder in which students from each grade level could add student photos of spirit attire in a competition to see which grade had the most participation.

The cafeteria was decorated in red and gold in honor of the team’s colors and served popcorn for the special occasion.

“It’s fun to see everybody support their home team,” junior Olivia Callander said. “I loved seeing everyone in theme, even the cafeteria decorated.”

This game marks the first Super Bowl for the 49ers in 25 years and will be the seventh Super Bowl for the team. The game will take place on Sunday at 3:30 p.m. against the Kansas City Chiefs, American Football Conference Champions.

“I’ve always really liked the 49ers,” sophomore Jennifer Surdjadi said. “I’m excited to see that they are in the Super Bowl because they haven’t been in a long time.”

Super Bowl LIV will take place at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami Gardens, Florida. Jennifer Lopez and Shakira will be performing in the halftime show.

“My family members, especially my dad, are really big 49ers fans,” Urruty said. “We usually have a Super Bowl party where we watch the game.”
